Wanting Feedback.

There are two things I have almost always known about myself, and those are that I want to be a stay at home mother, and the second is that I want to create and sell art. I am wanting to make a home business out of my artwork, but I don't really know what kinds of artwork people would actually be likely to purchase for their homes. My sister Heather suggested that I take a survey to find out what people are interested in paying money for. I am aware that I will most likely not make a great amount of money doing artwork, but it is what I want to do and it's something I can do while staying home with my children.

What kind of artwork would you realistically buy for your home?
The following are ideas of artwork that I could make and sell: Landscape paintings; Portraits; Storybook Murals to hang in childrens rooms; drawings or paintings mounted on objects such as shelves or wooden blocks (coffee table kinds of things); handmade books.

If anyone has any other ideas or likes the ones I posted please respond to my post. Don't worry about having to commit to purchasing anything, I just want to know what you think.

I'm more of a fan of landscapes for my home rather then people but I like the idea of storybook type pictures for kids rooms too. Good luck with your art work. It's great you love it and are able to keep it up.

I would look into craft fairs in your area and see if there are artists there selling. Then make some stuff and see about going to a craft fair and selling your work. I think it's probably the best market for your kind of thing. That or see if there are any artwork selling websites . . . .

I'm not the best person to answer this since I haven't hung anything on my walls for 2.5 years. But I wonder how the market would be for religious artwork.
I agree with Margie, if I had a house I think a landscape would be very nice.

I like landscapes, or other earthly things for my walls. The idea for storybooks is really great too! I would love that for a play room, Nicole's room, and even classrooms. Good luck!

Well, for me I would want a variety of your talents. I would love landscape picutres, but not of mountains or whatever. I would want specific, like a fish or flower. Not just open skies. I think that portrait is also way cool. Everybody has picutres, but to have an actuall painting of you is way more individualized and unique (sp). And anything to do with kids would be a seller I think. Anything from unicorns to princesses to cars would be really cool for a kids room. Actually, I think Phil would love a picutre of superman!
